Blastcool places sustainability at the heart of its design and manufacturing process.

Each year we are audited by EcoVadis to measure our progress and to ensure the integrity of our claims. For the third year in a row, Blastcool has been assessed as being in the top 1% of companies checked by Eco Vadis. Some of the choices we make relate to how the company operates, such as being powered by solar PV panels and others relate to the way the products themselves are built and how much energy they use. A few of the design selections made by our engineers are outlined below.

High Efficiency Compressor

A high efficiency compressor, matched with large surface area heat exchangers, minimises the energy consumed whilst achieving the necessary cooling performance.

Low Energy Fans

Powerful fans are used to increase the cooling performance and these are essential for efficient operation in high ambient conditions.

Importantly, the high efficiency fans are also rated to last nearly twice as long as their conventional equivalents, thereby reducing the carbon footprint throughout the life-cycle of the appliance.

Refrigerant Gas and Insulation Foam

Blastcool has selected the Natural Refrigerant R600a for the cooling medium and Cyclopentane as the Blowing Agent for the insulation foam. Both of these gasses are Zero ODP (Ozone Depleting) and have negligible GWP (Global Warming Potential).

Cabinet Frame Heat

Blastcool utilises waste heat from the refrigeration process to perform the essential function of keeping dry the area where the door seal meets the cabinet frame. This avoids the need for an electric heater.

Recycling at end-of-life

Professional recycling centres can make use of 99% of the refrigerator to support the circular economy whereby the various waste streams are sorted and repurposed for new products or processes.
